I’d rather build trust than chase attention.
You won’t find me promising instant relief or claiming a secret formula. My work is grounded in lived experience, evidence-based methods, and respect for both clients and clinicians. Integrity isn’t a marketing hook; it’s the foundation.
I define “bullshit” as “people and ideas that exploit or manipulate others’ willingness to believe things that just aren’t so”. I’ve seen way too much of it in my time, and as much as I hate to admit it, I’ve fallen for my fair share of it over the decades.
There are a lot of things that I don’t do as a coach because having integrity is important to me. This article is not a list of my achievements or other great qualities; rather, this is a list of qualities that should be basic prerequisites for any coach worth your time.
I’m not the author of 10 books that all have pictures of me on the cover in front of a white background slathered with praise quotes from talk-show hosts like every other self-help book.
I don’t do “motivational” speaking events.
I’m not doing anything “revolutionary”.
I don’t promise overnight, easy solutions. That’s because symptoms without a clear or plausible diagnosis are often kept alive by fear, anger, or ingrained focus patterns (and sometimes all three) that have been building for years. Unlearning those patterns takes time.
I don’t offer “abundance”, “enlightenment”, “financial freedom”, “healing”, “wellness”, or “fulfillment”.
I don’t do “programming” or “reprogramming”
I won’t attempt to be a doctor or a therapist; I’m not qualified to do either.
I have never seen convincing evidence that crystals, astrology, or anything else related to “transformational journey” woo are worth anyone’s time or money.
I know that believing what we hear from others – even those we trust – is a bad idea when it concerns things like current events, history, science, religion, or health. If that information is going to influence any important decision we make or belief we hold, it needs to be verified through at least one reliable, authoritative source.
I know the difference between “your” and “you’re”, and that should be convincing evidence that I notice the “small things” that any trained coach should, like shifts in tone of voice or language.
I’m pretty sure that at this point it’s obvious how I feel about “manifestation” and the “law of attraction”.
Recovery is possible; not because of quick fixes or guarantees, but because change is always within reach when fear no longer runs the show.
